In today’s YouTube video, I read a few extracts from my childhood diaries.
Won’t lie, it won’t be what you expected. Alongside the childish squabbles with my brother and my playground fights with my besties, there are a lot more serious undertones.
It broke my heart how many mentions of diet, weight loss and illness there was, but that was my reality. When I first went into therapy, I had to grapple with the fact that I never had a childhood. My illness meant I grew up way before I was meant to and saw things at 11 that most don’t experience until they are 80 or 90.
It may not be the usual childhood diary videos that you see on YouTube but it is my experience and my truth.
